Scholarship: Red & Sandra Covington Schp

Information: The Red and Sandra Covington Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2009 by R. W. “Red” and Sandra J. Covington of Waco, Texas.

Red Covington earned his B.A. degree from Baylor University in 1959 and an M.D. from the Baylor College of Medicine in 1963. Dr. Covington served as a member of the Baylor University Board of Regents from 1990 through 1999. He has served as team physician for the Baylor Athletic Department. Sandra Covington earned her B.A. degree from Baylor University in 1958.

The Covingtons are members of the Old Main Society and the Endowed Scholarship Society. They are members of the Medallion Fellowship and have received the Huckins and Pat Neff medallions. In addition, the Covingtons are life members of the Baylor Alumni Association and Dr. Covington is a 1992 recipient of the W. R. White Meritorious Service Award.

Criteria:  For Undergraduate or graduate Health Science Studies or Athletic Training majors in the Health/Human Perf/Recreation department who are a junior or senior.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need and merit.
