Scholarship: Charles D Johnson Scholarship

Information: The Charles D. Johnson Journalism Scholarship was established in 1966 by former students of Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson founded the Department of Journalism in 1927 and was chairman for many years. The endowment was later completed by Mr. and Mrs. Lev Prichard, III of Corpus Christi, Texas. Both are strong Baylor supporters. Mrs. Prichard, a Baylor graduate, has served as chair of the University Drug and Alcohol Awareness Task Force and is a former member of the Board of Regents. Mr. Prichard has been named Alumni Honoris Causa. This scholarship is awarded to students who plan a career in newspaper journalism.

Comments: Fund is restricted to incoming freshmen seeking a career in newspaper journalism.

Criteria:  For Journalism majors who are a freshman.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on merit.
