Scholarship: Hester Beck Willis Scholarship

Information: The Hester Beck Willis Endowed Scholarship Fund in Education was established in 2008 by Hester Beck Willis of Waco, Texas.

Hester Willis was received B.A. and M.A. degrees from Baylor University in 1945 and 1949 respectively. She was a teacher in the La Vega, Dallas, and Waco school districts through 1952. She is a life member of the Friends of Waco-McLennan County Library, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

This endowed scholarship assists deserving students who are enrolled in the School of Education and who are preparing for a career in teaching.

Comments: Preference is for students preparing for a career in teaching.

Criteria:  For Undergraduate students in the School of Education from Texas.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need and merit.
