Scholarship: Tom & Pat Powers SW Schp

Information: The Tom and Pat Powers Family Endowed Scholarship Fund in Social Work was established in 2010 by the Tom and Pat Powers Foundation of Houston, Texas. Tom Powers earned a B.B.A. degree from Baylor University in 1960. He served on the Baylor University Board of Regents from 1988 through 1997. In addition, he has served on the Hankamer School of Business Advisory Board and the Baylor Foundation. Pat Powers earned a B.B.A. from Baylor University in 1962. She is a member of the Baylor University Women’s Association of Houston and serves on the Baylor University School of Social Work Board of Advocates. Mr. and Mrs. Powers are members of the Endowed Scholarship Society, the Baylor Bear Foundation, and life members of the Baylor Alumni Association. In 1992, the Powers were honored with the Herbert H. Reynolds Award for Exemplary Service. They have three children: Matthew Scott Powers (B.B.A. 1989, M.B.A., 1991), Kristin Joell Powers, and Paige Powers Bell (B.B.A. 1994).

Criteria:  For Undergraduate or graduate students in the School of Social Work.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need and/or merit.
