Scholarship: Wise Family SW Scholarship

Information: The Wise Family Endowed Scholarship Fund in Social Work was established in 2011 by Charles D. and Mary Alice Wise of Gatesville, Texas. Charles Wise earned a B.A. degree from Baylor University in 1955. He retired as owner, president, and CEO of Medical Plastics Laboratory, Inc. in 1998. Mr. Wise served on the Baylor University Board of Regents from 1993 to 2002. Mary Alice Wise earned a B.A. degree from Baylor University in 1954. Mr. and Mrs. Wise now dedicate their time to serving as prison ministers in Gatesville. They have spent 31 years in volunteer prison ministry, including 18 years ministering to women on Death Row, which they visit every Tuesday. The Wises are members of the Baylor Bear Foundation, Old Main Society, Endowed Scholarship Society, Baylor University Heritage Club, and are life members of the Baylor Alumni Association.

Comments: First preference is to those seeking a MDV/MSW degree and those interested in working with disenfranchised or marginalized persons.

Criteria:  For graduate students in the School of Social Work.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.
