Scholarship: Burna F Battles Scholarship

Information: The Burna F. Battles Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by family, friends, and colleagues of Burna Battles. Burna “Bernie” Battles earned a B.A. degree in 1965 and a M.S.P.E. degree in 1966, both from Baylor University. He served as a Baylor faculty member in the Heath, Human Performance, and Recreation Department for more than 42 years. Burnie is remembered by his students as a great teacher and encourager. Burnie and his wife, Mary Helen Battles, have three children, Aaron Battles, Mary Battles-Hopper, and Jay Battles, and six grandchildren.

Criteria:  For Undergraduate Recreation majors in the Health/Human Perf/Recreation department.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need and/or merit.
