Scholarship: Ruth Longino Hedgepeth Schp

Information: The Ruth Longino Hedgepeth Endowed Scholarship Fund in Education was established in 2011 by Ruth Hedgepeth of Austin, Texas, Karen Hedgepeth of San Antonio, Texas, Lane Hedgepeth of San Antonio, Texas, Alan Hedgepeth of Austin, Texas, Jared and Kate Edwards of San Antonio, Texas, and Jana Klentzman of Plano, Texas. Ruth Hedgepeth graduated from Baylor University in 1955 with a B.A. in education. She was a public school teach for 35 years. During that time, she was head of the social studies department at Hamlin Middle School in Corpus Christ, Texas. She earned an M.S. degree in education from Corpus Christi State University in 1978. Ms. Hedgepeth has three children, Karen Edwards, Lane Hedgepeth, and Alan Hedgepeth, all of whom graduated from Baylor University. In addition, she has two grandchildren, Jared Edwards and Jana Klentzman, who also graduated from Baylor.

Comments: Preference to students who graduated from high school in Texas

Criteria:  For Undergraduate students in the School of Education.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need and merit.
