Scholarship: Ellen Stoesser Byrd Schp

Information: The Ellen Stoesser Byrd Endowed Scholarship Fund in Nursing was established in 2013 by Ellen Stroesser Byrd of Richardson, Texas.

Ellen Byrd earned a B.S. in nursing degree from Baylor University in 1964 and is a member of the Dean’s Board of the Louise Herrington School of Nursing and the alumni coordinator. She is a member of the Baylor University Women’s Council of Dallas, for which she served as president in 1994-1995. In 2012-2013, she was recognized as a Woman of Distinction. As a life member of the Baylor Alumni Association, she was recognized with the W. R. White Meritorious Service award and currently serves on the B.A.A. alumni council.

Ellen Byrd is married to C. Robert Byrd, a 1962 Baylor University graduate. They have four children: Byron Byrd (B.B.A. ’88), Preston Byrd (B.B.A. ’92), Aaron Byrd, (1994 UT graduate) and Rev. Robyn Byrd Michalove (1999 Trinity University graduate).

Comments: First preference is given to students who transferred or graduated from Dallas Baptist University and are enrolled in the FastBacc or other nursing graduate program. Second preference is given to students who transferred from any other Texas Baptist university affiliated with the BGCT. Third preference is given to students who are members of a church affiliated with the BGCT.

Criteria:  For Undergraduate students in the School of Nursing.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need and merit.
