Scholarship: Janet Rhines Economics Schp

Information: The Janet A. Rhines Endowed Scholarship Fund in Economics was established in 2013 by Walden C. and Paula H. Rhines of Portland, Oregon in honor of their daughter, Janet Adair Rhines from Portland, Oregon, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double major in economics and international business in May 2013.

Walden C. Rhines is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mentor Graphics, a leader in worldwide electronic design automation with revenue of 1.1 billion in 2012. During his tenure as CEO at Mentor Graphics, revenue has more than tripled and Mentor has grown the industry's number one market share solutions in four of the ten largest product segments of the Electronic Design Automation industry.

Dr. Rhines holds a B.S. degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Michigan, a M.S. and Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Stanford University, an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University and an honorary D.Tech. from Nottingham Trent University. Paula H. Rhines earned a B.S. degree from Florida State University.

Criteria:  For Undergraduate Economics majors in the School of Business.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on merit.
