Scholarship: Laurie & Mark Nielsen Schp

Information: The Laurie Kim Johnson Nielsen and Mark A. Nielsen Endowed Scholarship Fund at the Louise Herrington School of Nursing was established in 2014 by Laurie J. and Mark A. Nielsen of Nacogdoches, Texas.
Laurie Nielsen earned a B.S.N. degree from Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing in 1978. Her parents, Rev. Isaac and Sue Johnson of Tyler, Texas, sacrificed greatly to allow her to attend Baylor and she hopes this scholarship will honor them. Mark Nielsen graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1976 and earned an M.D. degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1980. The Nielsen’s have one child: Matthew (B.B.A. 2009, M.D. 2013).

Criteria:  For Undergraduate students in the School of Nursing.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need and merit.
